    HKBU hosted the “15 Years of Cinematic Legacy: HKBU Academy of Film” highlight event at the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART) to celebrate 15th anniversary of the establishment of Academy of Film.

    Received donations from the Raymond Wong Pak Ming Foundation to establish the“Raymond Wong Pak Ming Foundation Film Scholarship”.

    Received donations from Ms. Lovinia Chiu Siu Yin continue to support “Chiu Siu Yin Lovinia Scholarship”.

    Organized the Global University Film Awards (GUFA) 2022; Powered by advanced technology and fascinating virtual designs, the award presentation ceremony was broadcast live via GUFA’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

    Received donations from Professor Eva Man to establish Professor Eva Man Scholarship.

    Presented its first feature film, Pretty Heart, at premiere gala.

    Received donations from The CCK Trust established by the late Mr Chan Chee Kheong to set up  “Mr. Chan Chee Kheong Memorial Scholarship”.

    Received donations from Simon Suen Foundation and Media Link Entertainment Ltd for the Global University Film Awards (GUFA) 2020 ; the event was broadcasted by Kong International Business Channel (HKIBC) and Youtube.

    Received donations from the DC Foundation and Centum Charitas Foundation for the 14th Global Chinese Universities Student Film and TV Festival; the ceremony was broadcasted by ViuTV.

    Received sponsorship from Create Hong Kong, HKSAR Government for the 6th “INNO-Action! HKBU Academy of Film Seeds Project”.

    Co-presented the “Cinema Fantasia Hong Kong” exhibition with the Airport Authority (AA) of Hong Kong at the Hong Kong International Airport, promoting the uniqueness of Hong Kong’s film culture.

    Received the donation from HKS Education Fund to establish the Moral Education Fund to produce Pretty Heart feature film, the first project of the fund, to promote moral education.

    Received sponsorship from Create Hong Kong, HKSAR Government for the 5th “INNO-Action! HKBU Academy of Film Seeds Project”.

    Received a donation from the Kao’s family in support of The Professor Kelly Kao Memorial Scholarship.

    Prof. Elizabeth M. Daley, Dean, School of Cinematic Arts, University of Southern California, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Letters, honoris causa, by HKBU.

    Centre for Film and Moving Image Research set up with an aim to promote advanced and innovative research into contemporary moving images.

    The 4-year Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons) in Communication (Film and Media Arts) retitled as “Bachelor of Communication (Hons) programme – Film Major” to offer a more comprehensive and intensive training in film, television, digital animation and media arts.

    Professional Programme in Film (Higher Diploma) retitled as “Higher Diploma in Creative Film Production”.

    Establishment of Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Creative Writing for Film, Television and New Media

    In response to changes in Hong Kong’s academic structure, the 3-year Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons) in Communication (Cinema and Television) was integrated with several media-arts courses to give the 4-year Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons) in Communication (Film and Media Arts).

    The Communication and Visual Arts Building inaugurated

    Received a donation from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to set up a full professional-HD and advanced-HD television studio at the Communication and Visual Arts Building for the Professional Programme in Film (Higher Diploma)

    Received a donation from the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation to establish Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation bursaries

    With the support of Mr. Wilfred Wong (former Chairman of the Council and Court of HKBU) and Prof. Ng Ching Fai (former President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU), the Senior Executive Committee of the Administration of HKBU upgraded the department and renamed it the Academy of Film

    Received a donation from the Film Development Fund, HKSAR Government, for the development of the Academy.
