Programme Name: Higher Diploma in Creative Film Production

  1. Application Period: From 7 December 2023
  2. Application Deadline: Open until filled or
    • Local Applicants: 15 August 2024
    • Non-local Applicants: 30 June 2024
  3. Interview/Written Test:
    • Shortlisted applicants would be notified by email to attend an interview and written test; Applicants could submit any related sample of their creative works as supporting documents for consideration.
    • Interview and written test would be arranged from February to August 2024 by batch.
    • The programme is mainly conducted in Cantonese, therefore the interview would be conducted in Cantonese.
  4. Result:
    • Successful applicants would be notified by email from April 2024 until August 2024 to retrieve their offer letter by accessing the My CIE Application system.
    • Conditional offers would be valid only if concerned requirement(s) is/are fulfilled before the deadline specified.
    • Applicants who do not receive notification after late August 2024 can assume their applications unsuccessful. Unsuccessful applicants would not be notified.

   Minimum Admission Requirements

  • HKDSE:
    • Applicants obtain Level 2 in five HKDSE subjects including English and Chinese (Note 1), or equivalent.The Student Learning Profile will be considered.
      • Applicants taking HKDSE in/after 2024:
        - Citizenship and Social Development would be considered as obtained Level 2 in one of the five DSE subjects.
        - Mathematics Extended Part (Module 1or Module 2) would also be recognised as one of the five HKDSE subjects.
    • A maximum of TWO Applied Learning (ApL) subjects can be counted for admission purpose.
      • Applicants taking HKDSE in/after 2018:
        - Possessing "Attained" performance in an ApL subject is deemed to have attained Level 2 in one HKDSE subject.
        - Possessing "Attained with Distinction (I)" performance in an ApL subject is deemed to have attained Level 3 in one HKDSE subject.
        - Possessing "Attained with Distinction (II)" performance in an ApL subject is deemed to have attained Level 4 or above in one HKDSE subject.

      • Applicants taking HKDSE in/after 2017:
        - Possessing "Attained" performance in an ApL subject is deemed to have attained Level 2 in one HKDSE subject.
        - Possessing "Attained with Distinction" performance in an ApL subject is deemed to have attained Level 3 or above in one HKDSE subject.

OR
  • HKALE:
    • Pass in one A Level subject or pass in two AS Level subjects in HKALE
      AND
    • Five passes in HKCEE including English and Chinese; OR
      Three passes in HKCEE plus Level 2 or above in English and Chinese
OR
  • Applicants obtain Satisfactory completion of Grade 12
    AND
  • Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and Level 2 or above in English Language in HKCEE/ HKDSE, or other equivalent qualifications
OR
  • Applicants with relevant and substantial work experience and/or prior qualification(s) obtained in or outside Hong Kong, with demonstrated ability to undertake sub-degree education.
OR
  • Applicants with satisfactory completion of a Pre-Associate Degree/ Associate Degree Foundation Programme/ Diploma Programme or equivalent qualifications.
OR
  • Applicants aged 21 or above with acceptable qualifications/ talents to justify admission.
OR
  • Mainland applicants should attain the third cut-off point or above in "National Joint College Entrance Examination (JEE) of Mainland China", or equivalent.

 

The Academy may accept other equivalent qualifications in place of those stated above.

Note 1:

  • For Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) students fulfilling the specified circumstances in Note 2, the programme will accept the following alternative Chinese language qualifications to replace level 2 of HKDSE Chinese Language:
    (i) Grade E or above in GCE A/AS Level Chinese; OR
    (ii) Grade C or above in GCSE/IGCSE/GCE O-Level Chinese; OR
    (iii) “Attained or above” in Applied Learning Chinese (ApL(C))
  • "Other Languages" cannot be used for meeting the entrance requirement on Chinese Language.
     

Note 2:

  • The specified circumstances are:
    (i) The student has learned Chinese Language for less than six years while receiving primary and secondary education. This caters specifically to students who have a late start in the learning of Chinese Language (e.g. due to their settlement in Hong Kong well past the entry level) or who have been educated in Hong Kong sporadically; OR
    (ii) The student has learned Chinese Language for six years or more in schools, but has been taught an adapted and simpler Chinese Language curriculum not normally applicable to the majority of students in local schools.
