what's new:  targeted Taught Postgraduate Programmes Fellowships Scheme  is available FOR  LOCAL students  (Applicable to 2023  SEPT intake)

Targeted TPg Programmes Fellowships Scheme is a merit-based scheme providing fellowships of up to HK$120,000 each for local students pursuing designated taught postgraduate programmes in Hong Kong.

Qualified local applicants who successfully admitted to the MFA Programme will be invited to apply for the Fellowship. Quta is limited.

The award of the Fellowships will be based on merits taking into account the students' academic achievements, professional qualifications, relevant working experience, and achievements in other areas as well as the proposals submitted by the students with special attention to their personal statements on how they can contribute to the creative industry of Hong Kong after completing the MFA Programme

  Requirement

To qualify for admission, applicants should meet the following requirements:

  1. Hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognized university or comparable institution;
  2. Show evidence of academic aptitude and interest in creative activities;
  3. Obtain a TOEFL score of at least 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based), or IELTS result of at least Level 6.5*
     

Remarks

  • This requirement is only applicable to students originating from countries/institutions where English is not the major medium of instruction. e.g. Mainland China and Taiwan
  • Students with relevant talents but a lower English standard (i.e., an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent) may be considered for admission on the condition that the students must complete an English enhancement course arranged by the programme.

Short-listed applicants may attend an interview with faculty of the Academy of Film.

Application Method

  2. Please upload the following application documents on online application system:
    • One copy of all academic transcripts and degree certificates

    • One copy of official test scores: IELTS or TOFEL

    • Two confidential recommendation forms from people familiar with the applicant’s academic performance and/ or professional work;

    • A 2000-word personal statement outlining the applicant’s academic interests and objectives. (Either in English or Chinese).

    • A portfolio of creative work (Please provide hyperlink of video, film, digital media, painting, photos, script, fiction etc. that are uploaded on individual online platform )

    • A photocopy of Hong Kong identity card OR passport/identity document issued by the applicant’s home country

Application Period

We adopt a rolling admission policy and open a window for application from mid-November to end- June (usually having First Round November – January; Second Round February – June). 

It may be to your advantage to apply as early as possible, as the window may close earlier when all quotas are filled.

Interview Interviews may normally be held throughout the application period.

Students should check their updated application status through an online application system. Applicants with admission offer will be notified via email.
