本課程科目架構參考美國的「大學影視協會」規定而設立,科目分配如下:

課程設計的理念是讓畢業生在熟悉多種媒體製作技巧的基礎上,同時掌握一種媒體作為敘事和表達思想感情的創作手段。因此,課程框架為金字塔結構;在第一學年,本課程提供廣泛的跨媒體製作訓練,學生除了需掌握製作技巧外,亦須學習相關的理論與批評知識。學生可於第三、第四學期同時選修不同創意媒體的專業科目。在第五、第六學期,學生將會重點學習一種媒體製作形式,並以此為基礎創作、開發和完成製作藝術碩士課程所需的畢業作品。
學生可選擇以下形式的畢業作品:
i. 劇本寫作
ii. 電影電視製作
iii. 數碼媒體製作
* 由2016/17年起,本課程將不會提供正式三維動畫(Maya)的培訓。
爲了與技術發展保持同步,並將前沿科技融入於傳統電影製作,電影電視與數碼媒體藝術(製作)碩士課程現已重組並更名為影視藝術與創意實踐藝術(製作)碩士。2026年度9月入學的申請預計於12月中旬至下旬開放。詳情請參考https://af.hkbu.edu.hk/en/programmes/mfa-cacp.html。
