Master of Fine Arts in Film, Television and Digital Media
Master of Fine Arts in Film, Television and Digital Media, is a three-year, full-time programme, leading to a terminal degree in creative media production. It is the first of its kind in the Greater China region. Graduates of this programme will become media professionals with artistic sense, social responsibility, and international vision. Some of their career goals will be producers, directors, screenwriters, and other professional areas in the media industry. Graduates with an MFA degree are also eligible to teach at college level in certain higher education communities.
The courses are structured on the most desirable distribution of MFA Programme:

The programme also enables students to gain specific insights into one form of media of their choosing and a broader understanding of others. The curriculum ensures that each student receives relatively broad training in film, television and digital media in the first year. The first two semesters are designed to build a foundation for postgraduate media training. Students are required not only to be familiar with the practical operations of film, television and digital media, but also to understand related developments in theory and criticism. In the second year, students have a wide range of elective courses, enabling well-balanced professional training (script writing, film/TV production and digital media production) and artistic nurturing. The third year is dedicated to courses in support of the thesis project.
Each student will be able to choose one of the following media forms as his/her thesis project:
- Script Writing;
- Film/TV Production;
- Digital Media Production.
*From 2016/17 academic year, formal 3D animation and Maya training will not be offered.
* Hong Kong Future Talents Scholarship Scheme for Advanced Studies (FTSS) for local students (applicable for 2025-26 intake)
Under the FTSS, awardees are required to pay a minimum tuition fee being the prevailing rate of the UGC-funded full-time degree programmes, and the differences will be subsidised by the scholarship subject to a cap of HK$100,000 for each student for the whole TPg programme, regardless of the actual study period of the programme and mode of study.
Suitable candidates newly admitted to the MFA Programme will be invited to apply for the Scholarship. Quota is limited.
The selection of awardees will take into account their readiness and ability to contribute significantly to the development of Hong Kong after graduation from the TPg programme.

Requirement
To qualify for admission, applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognized university or comparable institution;
- Show evidence of academic aptitude and interest in creative activities;
- Obtain a TOEFL score of at least 79 (internet-based), or IELTS result of at least Level 6.5*
Remarks:
- This requirement is only applicable to students originating from countries/institutions where English is not the major medium of instruction. e.g. Mainland China and Taiwan
- Students with relevant talents but a lower English standard (i.e., an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent) may be considered for admission on the condition that the students must complete an English enhancement course arranged by the programme.
- Short-listed applicants may attend an interview with faculty of the Academy of Film.

Schedule
| Application Period | We adopt a rolling admission policy and open a window for application from early October to early June for non-local applicants and late July for local applicants. It may be to your advantage to apply as early as possible, as the window may close earlier when all quotas are filled. Please refer to the Academic Registry website for application deadline here. |
| Interview | Interviews may normally be held throughout the application period. |
| Application Results | Students should check their updated application status through an online application system. Applicants with admission offer will be notified via email. Students are advised to meet all deadlines during the registration process in order to secure their offer. |

Remarks for the following scholarships (EXCEPT DC Foundation)
- The Programme may modify the number of recipients or the award amount within the budgeted total when deemed necessary, e.g. when there are more students with identical scores that qualify for a scholarship than the number of scholarships offered.
- MFA Programme may not offer all or some of these rewards in case there are no sufficient qualified students or when the Programme runs into unpredictable financial circumstances.
- No student should receive more than two awards in the same academic year. Should there be such cases, the new award should be granted to the next best performing student in that category.
- Attaining the minimum grade requirements does not necessarily warrant an award.
