Academy of Film alumnus stands out in the 8th First Feature Film Initiative

MA Yue, an alumnus of the Academy of Film (AF) stood out in the Higher Education Institution Group of the 8th First Feature Film Initiative (FFFI). He will receive HK$ 5 million in funding from the Film Development Fund (FDF) to implement his winning film projects and produce his first commercial feature film.

Mr. MA Yue is a 2016 graduate of the Master of Fine Arts in Film, Television and Digital Media programme. His winning film proposal was Sin of Dreams, which was written and directed by himself and produced by Mr. Saville CHAN, the associate professor of practice of AF.

The FFFI was launched in 2013 to identify new talent through a competition based on screenplay and production proposals. It is supported by the Hong Kong Film Development Council and funding is made available from the FDF for the winning new directors and their film production teams to help them make their first feature films. So far, a total of eight AF alumni have won prizes in the FFFI.
